The Executive Council of Rutgers AAUP-AFT and the Executive Board of the Rutgers Adjunct Faculty Union voted to pass the following statement.
We stand in solidarity with our member, esteemed scholar Noura Erakat, who was arrested and charged in Palm Beach County Florida for exercising her first amendment rights. No-one should be subjected to police violence or arrested for speaking out at a public hearing. We stand strongly in support of her freedom of speech, and her obligation to call out injustice.
