Takeaway: Fill out a survey to tell us what priorities our union should have when we engage in the political processes that shape our university, our state, and our nation.
Dear colleague,
Our union is committed to defending the educators, researchers, and counselors we represent and using our power as workers and unionists to advance the causes of social justice, democracy, and equality.
Part of honoring those commitments is engagement in the political processes that shape our university, our state, and our nation. Such engagement involves advocating for legislation, communicating with elected officials, endorsing candidates, and making contributions of time and money to political campaigns.
These efforts are organized through our union’s Legislative Committee and authorized by the elected Executive Council. Examples of recent activities include building support for our contract campaign and strike among elected officials, endorsing candidates in state and federal legislative races, and ongoing efforts to win state legislation to lower the fringe rate on research grants and to improve access to quality health insurance for our adjunct lecturer colleagues.
Our committee works on behalf of all of you, so it is important to know what your priorities are and what activities we can rely on you to support. Please take the time to fill out this survey before Friday, March 8.
In solidarity,
