Our union is committed to an open, transparent discussion of all aspects of how our university is governed. Unfortunately, the Rutgers administration has not always been as forthcoming as we would wish about their decisions and processes. To get to the bottom of controversial financial decisions, we have repeatedly had to request documents under the New Jersey Open Public Records Act (OPRA). We’ve even had to go to court to get the information we’re legally entitled to, after the administration refused some requests.
We’re proud that Rutgers is a world-class public university, but that designation brings with it an obligation for all of us to be open and transparent. So we are publishing some of the important documents we obtained through OPRA—many of them with redactions—as a public service to the Rutgers community. If you have questions about what you read here, email us at email@example.com.
