Dear colleague,
We hope you had some time off over the long weekend. We’re writing to update you on the next salary increase that we won in our new contract; the increase that took effect on July 1st. Vivian Fernandez, Senior Vice President for Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness, has informed us that this pay increase will not be implemented on time. This is obviously deeply disappointing—the administration has had plenty of time to process this payroll update.
For faculty and EOF counselors, the 3.5% across the board increase will be implemented in the July 21st paycheck. Since the increase was effective July 1st, you’ll receive additional retroactive pay in this check. According to University Human Resources, you should be able to view your new base salary in your compensation history at my.rutgers.edu starting tomorrow (Thursday, 7/6). We’re sorry we’re all being made to wait for this scheduled pay increase. We urged UHR to communicate with everyone about the delay, but they declined to do so.
For TAs and GAs who worked during the 2022–23 year, we have been told by University Human Resources that you will receive your $1500 lump sum payment in this week’s paycheck. Please do make sure you receive it.
Please also be aware that the university decided to apply all union dues and taxes on the total of back pay on this lump sum paycheck.
Contact us and payroll@payroll.rutgers.edu if your paycheck doesn’t look right.
In solidarity,
Todd Wolfson, President, Rutgers AAUP-AFT
