Dear colleague,
At our “What R We Fighting For?” Contract Campaign Town Hall on Monday, we talked as a union about the battles ahead as we negotiate our next contract this spring—and what we need to do to get ready.
If you couldn’t make the town hall, we want to know from you if the demands we’re developing are on the right track. Click here to see the slide deck for the meeting, where we outlined the issues you told us were priorities and how we can address them. You can watch the video here on our YouTube channel (and please subscribe while you’re there!).
At the end of the meeting, we asked you to provide feedback on our developing demands. If you couldn’t make the meeting or didn’t have time to give your feedback earlier, please click here and find the form for the issue (or issues!) you want to tell us about.
We’re going to keep discussing what you think is needed to transform our university into the Rutgers that we, our students, and our communities deserve. Please talk with your colleagues at union chapter events over the coming weeks:
- New Brunswick chapter meeting: Monday, March 7, 3 p.m. Click here to RSVP
- Newark in-person tabling: Wednesday, March 8, check your email for details
- Camden chapter meeting: Tuesday, March 22, 12:45 p.m. Click here to RSVP
And we’re hoping to hold another all-union town hall meeting in late March or April. We’re having Howard Bunsis, an expert on university finances from the national AAUP, analyze the situation at Rutgers and document where the money is to meet our contract demands (Howard made a similar presentation at the start of the pandemic that was incredibly helpful in challenging the university’s “fiscal emergency” declaration). More details to come!
In solidarity,
Becky and Todd
