Takeaway: Fill out this form to let us know if you’ll join us at a speakout against Trump’s attacks on Wednesday, February 19, on the Busch or Newark campuses, or in Philadelphia—or if you will attend the Tuesday, February 25, national action in Washington, D.C.
Dear colleague,
The Trump administration is proving every day that it is determined to disrupt and dismantle the public higher education system that we and our colleagues nationwide have worked to build over decades—no matter the cost to us and the hundreds of millions we teach and serve.
Though some of the administration’s actions have been blocked in court, we can’t rely on judges’ injunctions forever. We know that life-saving research and vital programs are being delayed and canceled right now—and that these inhumane cuts will literally kill. There is no other choice but to come together as researchers, educators, clinicians, and counselors and raise our voices in protest.
Our union is planning speakouts to coincide with a National Day of Campus Actions on Wednesday, February 19. Fill out this form to let us know you’ll join us at the following events:
- New Brunswick: Gather on Busch campus at 12 p.m. in the Life Sciences Building Atrium (145 Bevier Rd.; the closest bus stop is Allison Road).
- Newark: Gather at 11 a.m. outside the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (30 Twelfth Ave., in front of Smith Library).
- Camden: Members will be joining an action in Philadelphia at 12 p.m. outside Republican Sen. David McCormick’s office at 2000 Market St.
You can read our previous messages for more about the threats and challenges we face. But we don’t need to tell you that the cuts, freezes, and policy changes will devastate our university. We need the public to know that Trump’s attacks on higher education—ranging from medical research to health care access to academic freedom to eliminating Department of Education programs—will be felt by everyone in this country, in red and blue states alike.
Come to an action next Wednesday and join your voice with those of your colleagues to send a message of opposition from coast to coast! We’ll have more to tell you next week, but we ask you to mark your calendar for our Wednesday, February 19, speakouts—and talk to your colleagues about attending together.
