Upcoming Events:
- Wednesday, November 30, 5:30pm: Town Hall Forum on Grad Worker Issues (click here to RSVP)
- Tuesday, December 6, 11:30am: All Out Mobilization for a Fair Contract (fill out the commitment form)
Dear colleague,
As you may know, our collective bargaining agreement with the Rutgers administration expired nearly five months ago. We are now in the middle of negotiating our contract. Graduate workers have been forced to make ends meet with increasingly meager resources, while inflation continues to escalate, rents in NJ and the tristate area soar, and our health insurance premiums increase. At the same time, top administrators get extraordinary raises, and the university has made unprecedented gains in its unrestricted reserves, which are not going to workers on campus.
There are a lot of transformative grad demands on the table:
- COVID funding extensions
- Salary increase to a living wage
- A five-year funding minimum for all grads
- Inclusion of graduate fellows under our union contract
This town hall meeting is for all grads and anyone concerned about grad experiences to meet and discuss these issues and how Rutgers can make grad worker life and work more sustainable. Click here to RSVP for the Zoom link for the town hall.
We have invited President Holloway to attend and speak with us about the struggles of grad workers at Rutgers. Come and share your thoughts and experiences, ask questions, and meet your fellow grad workers from across the university.
The future of Rutgers and higher ed depends on what we do together in the next couple of months. We need you to contribute your time, your skills, and all your energies towards our common goal: a livable and accessible campus and workplace for all of us. Join us in the fight today, because when we FIGHT, we WIN. Please plan on coming to the town hall forum—and sign up to tell us you’re joining our all-out mobilization for a fair contract on December 6 (if you haven’t already).
