Dear colleague,
I am happy to relay some good news. In response to the efforts of our union leadership and a number of active members, the University has signed an agreement that allows NTTs to exclude teaching evaluations from NTT promotion and reappointment packets. Tenure stream faculty already had this right for promotion and tenure packets.
NTT faculty whose review for reappointment or promotion has been initiated by a department or unit as of March 31, 2022, or after will have the option to exclude Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 teaching evaluations from promotion and reappointment packets submitted for review during the 2021–22 academic year or later. Our MOA with the University applies to NTT faculty reappointments to the same rank, promotions to the rank of Assistant Professor and equivalent, and promotions to the rank of Associate Professor and above for the 2021–22 academic year or later. You can read the full Memorandum of Agreement here.
If you wish to exercise this option, including those of you evaluated on the NTT Short Form, you will need to submit a “Supplemental Form NTT 1.” This form should be disseminated by the University with instructions shortly.
Thank you to all who kept the pressure up on this important issue.
In solidarity,
Carla Katz
Vice President for Non-Tenure Track Faculty
