Union Election Results

Dear colleague,

We completed our union elections on Monday, and I am pleased to introduce the excellent team that has been elected to lead our union into the coming year. Please join me in congratulating all the new and ongoing members of the university-wide Executive Council and TA/GA Steering Committee and our chapter leadership on each campus.

Those elected to these bodies will help us face current and new challenges, with management using the pandemic as an opportunity to continue its attacks on our contract and our members’ working conditions and rights. Even as we defend the current one, we begin the process of building for a strong contract in Spring 2022. In both the short and long term, we must confront management’s agenda of layoffs and austerity with a people-centered alternative that models the public university of the 21st century that we aspire to create.

Our union is in a fight for all workers and students at Rutgers, and that means we need to strengthen our ties to our sibling unions in the Coalition of Rutgers Unions. Our successes depend on them, and theirs on us. We also rely on the support of the communities in which Rutgers is based, and we likewise champion their struggles for justice as our own.

I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your confidence in our union in this critical time and for your willingness to stand up for what is right. We have a fight ahead of us this fall and in the coming year, but together, we can win.
