Our students were already facing financial burdens before Trump came to power, but his administration’s cruel and erratic policies have made the current moment even more uncertain and filled with emergencies.
We’re writing to you to ask you to donate to the Rutgers FAST Fund—a fund initiated and administered by union members, which provides small grants for students’ urgent financial needs—and then let your students know about the fund and how they can apply. Operated by Believe in Students, a 501(c)(3) organization working in partnership with Rutgers faculty and union members, the FAST Fund is able to provide immediate cash assistance for urgent needs related to medical expenses, housing costs, utility bills, food costs, child care, or other issues.
Here’s how you can help:
- Make a donation to the FAST Fund. (Note: The Givebutter donation site automatically adds a 15 percent tip that doesn’t benefit the FAST Fund. You can remove the tip on the “Summary” checkout page by clicking on the automatically generated amount, choosing “Other,” and entering $0.)
- Add this slide to your classes’ Canvas to let students know about the fund.
