Dear colleague,
Our unions’ International Scholar Solidarity Committee is hosting a listening session and discussion for international workers at Rutgers on Thursday, December 19, from 6–7:30 p.m. Click here to RSVP.
Like the Rutgers community, our unions have members from all over the world, and Rutgers campuses are located in cities with large immigrant communities. Some of us are here from countries with political turmoil and ongoing genocides. And all of our international scholars have had to navigate the logistics of living in the United States.
Our unions have long provided resources to international scholars in many different ways. We formalized those efforts in a committee after Trump’s election to prepare for the new wave of attacks we know are on the way. The purpose of Thursday’s discussion is to hear from our members about what issues they face as international workers and their concerns about the Trump administration, and to brainstorm how we can better support each other.
We hope this meeting serves as a space to share these fears and to think about what can and must be done over winter break and into the spring semester. We also hope committee meetings become a living space for making connections between international and non-international workers at Rutgers, including but not limited to grad workers, postdocs, and faculty. We will highlight ongoing activities to address international workers that you can get involved with!
Once again, the listening session and discussion hosted by the International Scholar Solidarity Committee is this Thursday, December 19, from 6–7:30 p.m. Click here to RSVP.
