Dear colleague,
We’re asking any work-sharing participants whose application for unemployment was approved but who hasn’t received any payments yet to fill out this Google form. If your claim status has been listed as “Filed” for over a week, but you haven’t gotten any payments by direct deposit or a debit card in the mail, this form is for you.
We were warned that it can take several weeks after being approved for state unemployment payments to start up (and the federal payments typically lag behind the state payments by a week or so). But some of you who applied online in the first week still haven’t received anything—and others who had to apply by phone and spoke to a New Jersey Department of Labor (NJDOL) agent at the start of the month are in the same boat.
So we are trying another route to get your cases addressed. We’ll assemble a new list from your responses and submit it to NJDOL. We’ve been assured that a department representative will check into these cases, so please fill out this form.
We know that some of you have still not been able to get approved and are waiting to be contacted by NJDOL. We promise you that we are pressing NJDOL to make sure these calls are made. But please don’t fill out this form. Instead, if you have questions for us, email us at aaup@rutgersaaup.org.
Many faculty participants in work-sharing have started getting unemployment payments, but some of you are still waiting. We want to assure that you will not be penalized for these delays; when payments start, they will continue weekly until you get everything that is due to you under the work-sharing program.
We are sorry this is dragging out, and we thank you for being patient while we try to fix the problems with this confusing and inefficient system. We also want to remind you about the union’s Work-Sharing Loan Program for those facing short-term financial difficulties as they await payments—you can find out about how to apply in section five of our recent work-sharing update.
In solidarity,
Todd and Becky
