Flex Work Is Under Attack by Rutgers – Town Hall: Thursday, Nov 20, 7pm

Dear colleague,

Join the Coalition of Rutgers Unions (CRU) for an important town hall meeting about management’s apparent plan to end flexible work arrangements. This will impact many staff at Rutgers, including our EOF Counselor members. The CRU meeting on Thursday, November 20, at 7 p.m. on Zoom (click here to RSVP for the link) will go over our contract language regarding flex work, talk about what members have been hearing, discuss our demands, and decide on actions we can take collectively.

Rutgers’ own findings in the “Rutgers Climate Action Plan” in June 2021 and the “Future of Work” report in 2022 support flexible work arrangements. Additionally, flex work was cited as one of the reasons that New Jersey is a top employer as recognized by Forbes.

We want to tell Rutgers management that flexible work arrangements are here to stay. This isn’t just for our own personal benefit; most staff are being asked to do more work with fewer coworkers. Rutgers cannot afford to lose more good workers to shortsighted and poorly thought-out administrative decisions. Rutgers works because we do!

The administration can’t unilaterally change the terms of flex work without negotiating with CRU unions. And when we come together, we have the power to fight for safe and suitable working conditions. Our unions will start contract negotiations in a few months, so now is the time to fight for what is important to us!
