Takeaway: Click here to send a message to your legislators in New Jersey asking them to vote “yes” on the A4164/S2747 joint bill to fix the fringe rate.

Dear colleague,
Our push to pass legislation that will permanently fix New Jersey’s inflated fringe benefit rate is coming down to this final week of the legislative session before they break for the summer.
Assembly Bill 4164—legislation our unions helped shape to fix the fringe rate and save research at Rutgers—passed unanimously in the Assembly Appropriations Committee last week, and we’re hopeful the identical Senate Bill 2747 will be voted out of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee this week. That would clear the way for full votes by the 80-member Assembly and 40-member Senate, sending the legislation to the governor’s desk.
We need legislators across the state to understand why they should vote “yes” on A4164/S2747. If you live in New Jersey, click here to send a message to the Senator and two Assembly members who represent your district. If you don’t live in New Jersey, you can still help: click here to send a message to Senate President Nicholas Scutari and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin asking them to make sure the legislation comes to a final vote this week.
The ballooning fringe benefit rate in New Jersey is more than double or even triple what researchers at other institutions pay. If we don’t fix the fringe rate permanently, we’ll lose out on more grant funds, and talented young researchers will begin their careers elsewhere. Help us save research at Rutgers by sending a message to New Jersey legislators today!
