Ask Legislative Leaders and the Governor to Oppose the “Keeping Secrets” Bill!

Our unions are contacting Senate President Scutari, Assembly Speaker Coughlin, and Governor Murphy to ask them to declare their opposition to S2930/A4045, the bill that would gut the Open Public Records Act. The legislation could come to a full Senate and Assembly vote as soon as Monday, so we need to act now. Please call:

  • Senate President Nicholas Scutari: 732-827-7480
  • Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin: 732-855-7441
  • Governor Phil Murphy: 609-292-6000

You can tell them:

I oppose S2930/A4045, a bill that would undermine the New Jersey Open Public Records Act, allowing institutions like my university, Rutgers, to reject legitimate requests for public records from citizens and the media. Our public institutions need more openness and transparency, not less! Please declare your opposition to S2930/A4045 and use your influence to get the legislation withdrawn.
