That "Subject to" Language Must Go!

We oppose the "subject to" language because it means that RU could use it at any time to renege (again) on negotiated salary increases.

Rutgers University management continues to insist that the economic provisions of the new contract for full-time faculty and TA-GAs be “subject to” state funding of the contractually agreed raises. The administration continues to insist that the economic provisions of the new contract be “subject to” state funding of the contractually agreed raises. This “subject to” language is precisely the language the administration invoked unilaterally in 2010 to freeze our salaries and create the sorry catch-up situation we now are in. This language is also in the contracts of other RU unions. The URA-AFT developed an excellent summary on this issue.

Full-time faculty and graduate student workers will continue to mobilize against the "subject to" language in parallel with our sister unions at Rutgers in order to secure a decent contract. Be part of this effort in 2015!
