As shocking as it is, in 2017 women continue to earn less than men for the same job. Our analysis of salary data shows that Rutgers is no exception to this national trend. Your Union hopes to address this and a host of other issues that affect faculty and TA/GAs in our next contract, which expires in June 2018.
However, to do so, I need you to take 5–10 minutes to fill out this survey: https://rutgers.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_czIsTIMqhDip0QR
If a sufficient number of people do not participate, then we will not have actionable data. Thus, in addition to taking the survey, please encourage your colleagues, regardless of their gender identity, to do so as well.
To be clear, this survey is about more than salary. It sets out to determine a wide range of conditions such as levels of support/mentorship, tenure and promotion, job security for NTT and PTL faculty, service commitments, and sexual harassment as well as other issues that address the general climate for all faculty.
We are just over a year away from the end of our current contract and your perspective on professional and personal conditions at Rutgers is key to informing our demands.
