PTL Salary Increases on January 29 paychecks

Submitted by Staff on Wed, 01/27/2016 - 16:15

President Teresa Politano alerted Part-Time Lecturers (PTLs) that the union-negotiated salary increase should appear on the last paycheck for the Fall 2015 semester, which is Friday, January 29, 2016:

January 27, 2016

Dear PTL colleagues:

Watch your January 29 pay check for a lump sum retroactive payment for the salary increase that was negotiated to become effective on September 1, 2015.

For PTLs paid by the credit hour, the new minimum for Fall 2015 is $1642 per credit hour taught. The salary increase is 2%, but some PTLs may have a higher percentage increase, e.g., if the previous salary was quite a bit lower than the new minimum. Keep in mind that this lump sum represents a semester’s salary increase and the 2% (or increase up to the minimum) will be added to your base salary rate. Let us know right away if you do not see this increase, but remember that your January 29 check will be larger than subsequent checks because it will contain a retro payment.

For PTLs who are paid other than by the credit hour, the increases are commensurate and the new salary minima are:

PALS Intensive and Evening Programs: Fall 2015: $50/hr
PALS Corporate Program: Fall 2015: $55/hr
Mason Gross studio PTLs: Fall 2015: $370/student

In the new Agreement, we secured a written statement that there is no maximum PTL salary rate; nothing in the Salary Provisions Article shall be construed as a maximum or restriction on the base salary rate of an individual Part-Time Lecturer. We will monitor the accuracy of these salary increases, so contact us if you have questions or see problems with your pay check.

We thank each and every member and encourage the not-yet members (the representation fee payers) to become members.

In Unity,

Teresa Politano
