Dr. Allison Brewster Franzetti (on piano) and Dr. Paul Cohen (on saxophone) performed at the Rutgers Club in New Brunswick as part of a special end-of-semester music event on May 5, 2015.
They were featured as excellent examples of professional expertise that part-time faculty bring to Rutgers University.
Dr. Paul Cohen has appeared as soloist with many symphonies and orchestras across the USA, recorded albums, and published more than 100 research articles on the history and literature of the saxophone. Recently, he has had two CDs released of American music: Quartet at the Crossroads and Breathing Lessons on the Parma and Naxos labels. Cohen has rediscovered and performed lost saxophone literature, including solo and orchestral works. Cohen holds a master of music degree and doctor of musical arts degree from Manhattan School of Music.
Dr. Allison Brewster Franzetti has performed and toured in the USA and in Mexico, Argentine, Japan, and Europe. She is an accomplished collaborative pianist and soloist with album awards such as the 2014 Latin Grammy (R) Nominee for Best Classical album. Franzetti holds degrees from Manhattan School of Music, Julliard School and Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University. Currently, she works as Artistic Director of the Young Artist Program and Director of Chamber Music for the Extension Division, Mason Gross School of the Arts.
