PTL Faculty Chapter Executive Board Also Votes to Endorse Hillary Clinton

Submitted by Staff on Fri, 10/14/2016 - 14:22

President Teresa Politano sent the following announcement to full PTL union members on October 14, 2016:

Dear Members:

The Executive Board of our union has voted to endorse Hillary Clinton for president of the United States. Our PTLFC E-Board vote is added to the October 6th vote of the Rutgers AAUP-AFT Executive Council. Click here to read the EC statement, which details reasons for supporting Clinton and why we think Trump would be particularly dangerous for higher education and for Rutgers.

In the interest of AVERTING a Trump presidenct, the PTLFC Executive Board joins the Rutgers AAUP-AFT Executive Council in asking full union members - when time permits - to take part in canvassing and phone banking for Clinton.

The New Jersey statewide office of the American Federation of Teachers has planned one such opportunity in the "battleground" area of Philadelphia tomorrow, Saturday 15 October. For those living in or near Philadelphia, here is a flyer with information on getting to the staging area. The staging area's assembly point is also served by SEPTA buses. If you live in or near New Brunswick and want to take a bus to Philadelphia, here's the information about getting a seat on the bus.

If you plan to show up tomorrow, be sure to call 732-661-9393 to let them know you're coming.

In solidarity,
Teresa Politano
President, PTLFC-AAUP-AFT
PTL, Journalism & Media Studies (SC&I--New Brunswick)
