The union celebrated the winners at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the Rutgers AAUP-AFT office at 11 Stone Street in New Brunswick, NJ.
Not all the student awardees were available to attend, but we celebrated with those who were able to attend, plus a few family members and faculty nominators and recommenders.
We took a few pictures at the celebration. The purpose will be to display photos on our website in order to communicate more about the scholarship with faculty members of all ranks who work at Rutgers and with undergraduate students.
The scholarship was created to honor Dr. Wells H. Keddie, a long-time union activist who served on the union's Executive Council. The late-Dr. Keddie was a professor in Labor Studies (School of Management and Labor Relations). The scholarship was created to reward undergraduate Rutgers students who have demonstrated a commitment to social activism and solid scholarship.
Union members in any Rutgers AAUP-AFT bargaining unit are encouraged to either nominate or recommend a worthy student.
The deadline to apply for next year's scholarship is March 1, 2017. Download the 2017 flyer
