A call for nominations has been sent out by campus to full union members who are full-time faculty, postdocs, and EOF Counselors as well as TAs-GAs.
A slate has been prepared by the Nominations and Elections Committees for each campus, but there are still open seats.
The union welcomes nominations from the floor of the campus-level chapter meetings and by petition, if unable to attend the chapter meeting. A petition requires 10 signatures of full union members to nominate someone. Only full union members can run for office.
The deadline to submit nominating petitions is Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 4pm at the AAUP-AFT Office at 11 Stone Street in New Brunswick (College Ave Campus). In addition, the person who is being nominated in person or by petition must submit their biographical information and campaign statement by 4pm on Thursday, April 7, 2016 as well.
Chapter meetings related to this election will be held on each of the three campuses:
Camden Chapter Meeting: Thursday, April 7 at 12:20PM in Room 124 in Armitage Hall. Lunch will be provided. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org
Newark Chapter Meeting: TBA
New Brunswick Chapter Meeting: Wednesday, April 6 from 11:30am-1pm in the conference room at the Rutgers AAUP-AFT office, 11 Stone Street, New Brunswick.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Attendance via Google Hangout is available, but the members who want to use this method must contact the union office no later than two days prior to the meeting and follow the instructions we provide to get their computer or device ready to use Google Hangout and give us their email address in that system in order for the union as the host to "call" them to join the meeting. (Once members have done this once, it will be very easy to participate via Google Hangout in the future!) RSVP will always be required so that we can call the member to join the Hangout.
The election this year is for local Chapter Officers and local Chapter Executive Committee members on each campus, plus some seats on the Executive Council. The Executive Council brings together representatives from all three campuses for monthly meetings held at the AAUP-AFT office in New Brunswick.
The election will be by paper ballot mailed to the home addresses of full union members who are full-time faculty, postdocs, EOF Counselors, and Teaching Assistants/ Graduate Assistants.
For details on which seats are open and to obtain copies of the petition and the biographical data form. Contact Denise at 732-964-1000, ext 15 or email her via email@example.com.
Note: A separate union election for the Part-Time Lecturer Faculty Chapter to elect their Executive Board members will be announced soon. PTLs who are full union members will receive notice of that call for nominations when the PTL Faculty Chapter begins its election process.
