Grad workers, undergrads pack Chancellor's forum, demand answers

Taking action puts our issues front and center! Check out Katy Gray, union leader and doctoral student in the Rutgers University Department of Women's and Gender Studies, with today's Daily Targum - featuring the action Wednesday by graduate workers on the front page!

Graduate workers and undergraduate supporters from Rutgers United Students Against Sweatshops (USAS) packed a town hall with New Brunswick Chancellor Dutta. We came to hold the administration accountable to paying for the costs that would be imposed on grad workers should the GOP Tax Bill pass. President Barchi has maintained that it would be "counter-intuitive" to plan for a future in which the bill passes - counter-intuitive to plan for a future where doctoral workers cannot pay their bills.

Chancellor Dutta said that he disagreed with this position, but offered ZERO alternatives or plans for the consequences of a bill that could pass as early as Friday. Grads will not stop fighting until the GOP and our administration is held accountable for this terrible bill!
