Settlement Agreement of Independent Study Grievance
- The Independent Study grievance is withdrawn without prejudice effective upon ratification of the July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2015 agreement.
- Both parties reserve all rights to assert all arguments that were or could have been raised in this grievance, including the issue of whether the PTL union may negotiate terms and conditions of independent study supervision performed by PTLs.
- Rutgers agrees that by September 1, 2012, it will issue a letter to all department chairs and deans requiring that PTL unit members who teach an independent study course shall be compensated at a minimum rate of three hundred dollars ($300) per credit. Rutgers further agrees to this rate of compensation to continue through June 30, 2015.
- This Settlement will not be used as evidence or reference in any future grievance or other legal action, except to enforce the settlement. Rutgers agrees to provide to the PTLFC a list of all PTLs supervising independent studies and their rates of compensation within 45 working days of the beginning of each semester.
